Húsavík Green Hostel – A Sustainable hostel in the beautiful North

Húsavík Green Hostel opened in the spring of 2020 and is a sustainable hostel with an environmental policy in place. The house was originally a single-family home built by a priest but was converted into a hostel a few years ago.

There are a few different rooms to choose from; A double room with a private bathroom or a 4-bed mixed dormitory, twin room, 3-bed room, single rooms, and a double room, all with shared bathroom. The minimum stay is two nights. Standard or non-refundable rates are available as well as special offers for stays of 3 days and longer if booked directly.

The hostel has free Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, a balcony and garden, separate dining and communal area and more.

Proactive ecological measures are taken to minimise the impact of the hostel’s operation. That means that plastics are minimised, biodegradable cleaning agents are exclusively used, and efforts to reduce daily laundry are implemented. Natural materials are used whenever possible, as well as promotion of using local produce and much more.

Húsavík is the Whale Capital of Iceland with an excellent whale museum and three whale watching companies to choose from. Major natural sightseeing spots, such as the Ásbyrgi Glacial Canyon, Dettifoss Waterfall and Mývatn, are only a short drive away.
