Þórarinn B. Þorláksson

Þórarinn Benedikt Þorláksson (14 February 1867 – 10 July 1924 was an Icelandic painter and the first Icelander to study painting abroad. He held his first actual painting exhibition in Iceland and was the first painter to receive public funding. Þórarinn painted mainly landscape paintings. Together with Ásgrímur Jónsson, Jóhannes Kjarval and Jón Stefánsson, he is considered one of the four pioneers in Icelandic art.
