Exciting times at The Reykjavík Art Museum

There are exciting times ahead at the Reykjavík Art Museum, both in Hafnarhús and at Kjarvalsstaðir, which is celebrating their 50th anniversary on March 24. On that day, Kviksjá opens, a series of exhibitions showing works of art in the Reykjavík Art Museum’s collection. Selection of Icelandic works from the 20th century. About two hundred works of art will be on display in both halls of the building. In the East Hall there are works of art from 1900 to 1973 when Kjarvalsstaðir was inaugurated. In the West Hall works from the year 1973 up to 2000. Later in the year, on June 6th, the 21st century Kviksjá will be opened in Hafnarhús, while the Kviksjá of foreign art in the Reykjavík Art Museum’s collection is now open in Hafnarhús, until May 7th. Icelandic Times / Land & Saga went down to Kjarvalsstaðir, and inspected and photographed in the eastern hal, which is being made ready for the big day. The curators are Edda Halldórsdóttir, Markús Þór Andrésson and Ólöf K. Sigurðardóttir.
