Third Eruption in Three Months

The third eruption in as many months started just North of Grindavík, Reykjanes peninsula this morning. The eruption is a copy paste, of the first one, that started December 18th, last year. That eruption lasted 60 hours, based on the amount of magma that has accumulated, experts have estimated that this eruption could last 80 to 100 hours, three to five days.

The eruption column reached 3000 meter height. Bessastaðir the President of Iceland residence in the foreground.
