The first artist in the series Eternal Echoes: Homage to Kjarval, is Guðrún Kristjánsdóttir. Guðrún shares her childhood memories of Kjarval with visitors at Kjarvalsstaðir. “In my memory the smell of the oil colours in Kjarval´s study, which I visited as a child, blends with the line in the painting “Sigrún” which was in my childhood home and had a great impact on me. To me, the line which forms the elf maiden´s head symbolises the calling of the artist who lives in the world of nature and its mysteries as much as in the human world.”
