Breiðdalshreppur

Breiðdalshreppur is a municipality in Iceland. Its service centre is Breiðdalsvík. Tourism, fishing, sheep and cow farming are the most prominent industries in the municipality.

Breiðdalsvík is a young fishing town in Iceland and is located near Egilsstaðir and Breiðdalsheiði on a very large cove with the same name. With a population of only 139, the town consists mostly of transient guests. The settlement was established in the 1880s but only came to prominence in the 1960s after the harbour was developed.

One activity in the town is fishing in the Breiðdalsá river.
