Akureyri Museum has artifacts related to the region’s history on display, gardens & a 19th-century church.

The museum is much more than a showroom. On the premises, you also have a very old church built in 1846 you can visit. There are also buildings outside the premises like Laufás heritage site and the homes of the authors Jón Sveinsson (Nonni), Matthías Jochumsson & Davið Stefansson, all very prominent names on the Icelandic literary scene.
