Laugarfell Highland Hostel

Laugarfell Highland Hostel is located in the eastern part of the Icelandic Highlands, a bit north from Mount Snæfell. There are only two km.from the road that leads to Kárahnjúkar to the hostel and it is the only part of road that is not paved. In the summer there is good access to Laugarfell in all kinds of vehicles.

Laugarfell Highland Hostel offers accommodation for 38 people. Two geothermal pools are in Laugarfell, which give the place its name. The pools are stacked which gives them a lot of charm. The view from the pools is beautiful and in the distance one can see Mount Snæfell. Old sayings claim the water in the pools has got healing powers.

We offer breakfast and dinner at Laugarfell. Orders need to be made before 4pm. We also offer sandwiches and cake, and of course we always have warm coffee and tea. We offer food packets for short or long trips

There are many interesting tracking paths around Laugarfell and a number of beautiful waterfalls. Additionally, one can expect to see reindeers wandering around the area of Laugarfell.

After a walk or sightseeing it is lovely to relax in the geothermal pools and enjoy the quietness, peace and bright Icelandic nights.

The hostel is open from the middle of May to the end of September.

It is possible to open for groups over the winter time.
