Thorunn Bara Björnsdottir’s exhibition Foldarskart is comming to an end. Last day is Saturday April 15th.
Thorunn Bara is an Icelandic artist that concerns herself with the relationship of man and nature and the combined effect of art and natural sciences in raising awareness of and response to the threat of global warming.
She is interested in how we experience the natural world and the effect this experience has on physical, mental, and social wellbeing, cognitive orientation, and formation of value systems.
By experiencing nature in wider context, we become more apt to understand and enjoy our own place in the natural world. We are an integral part of nature and have a collective responsibility for the wellbeing of Earth, our only home.
This exhibition named FOLDARSKART is meant to draw attention to the beauty of natural life in various terrains in Iceland by focusing locally on the colonization and survival of plants and their struggle to thrive on a barren soil under harsh conditions. In art, beauty is back to remind us of being respectful of our environment and to each other.
The exhibition will end April 15th.
Art Gallery Fold in Rauðarárstígur Reykjavík is open Mon-Fri 10 – 6pm and Saturdays 12-4pm
