BERG Contemporary welcomes you to the opening of Ryoji Ikeda’s solo exhibition, data-verse, at BERG Contemporary, Friday 6th March 2026 at 5pm-7pm. 17:00-19:00

Leading composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda (b. 1966, Gifu, Japan) focuses on the essential characteristics of sound itself and that of visuals as light by means of both mathematical precision and mathematical aesthetics. Ikeda has gained a reputation as one of the few international artists working convincingly across both visual and sonic media. He elaborately orchestrates sound, visuals, materials, physical phenomena, and mathematical notions into immersive live performances and installations. Alongside pure musical activity, Ikeda has been working on long-term projects through live performances, installations, books, and CDs.

Since 2008, he presented solo exhibitions in major institutions worldwide, such as Centre Pompidou Paris, Park Avenue Armory New York, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, ZKM Centre for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Eye Filmmuseum Amsterdam, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 180 The Strand London , Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art, Amos Rex Helsinki, High Museum of Art Atlanta, National Asian Cultural Center Gwangju, amongst others. He lives and works in Paris, France, and Kyoto, Japan.

The artist will be in attendance.
