Eyborg Guðmundsdóttir

Eyborg Guðmundsdóttir (1924-1977) was a unique artist on the Icelandic art scene.

Eyborg Guðmundsdóttir was very productive artist despite a short career. She worked as an artist for about 16 years and left behind about one hundred works of art.

Eyborg established itself as the main representative of geometric painting in Iceland. She socialized with artists in Reykjavík and Paris and learned from them. Her main mentors were the German / Swiss artist Dieter Roth – whom she met regularly in Iceland – and in Paris she enjoyed the guidance of artists such as Georges Folmer and Victor Vasarely.
