Feminine energy

takes over Litla Gallerý with all its giving
care and nourishment.

The installation is composed of works that Solveig has worked on for the last 3-4 years and until today.

Solveig graduated with a master’s degree in art from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2015 and has been active in the field ever since. She works across media and and fetches the sources of material that are suitable and captures the mind each time. Her main subjects are related to environmental and social issues and often have feminist references.

The women who adorn the exhibition are of various kinds; well-known folkloric characters, busty fantasy beasts, lovesick and desperate trollwomen or goddesses. It is also possible to distinguish identity or a sort of the artist’s alter ego.

Social expectations placed on women include, among other things, in being a sexual being but at the same time being able to raise children and be nurturing and caring in all respects. Symbols of a woman appear in pink and red color, breasts and blood in the artworks.

Exhibition opening is March 21st from 18:00-20:00 and everyone is welcome!
