Rebirth – Ólöf Erla Einarsdóttir

The body! Bodies! All kinds of bodies! Health! When one loses their health, and the body becomes weak, it gives you a new perspective on life. What is happening? Where does it hurt? Who are you now? You are strong, and recovering. You are rising from the ashes. Rebirth.
After experiencing the loss of health, I realized how strong my body is. Both during illness and after. During my rehabilitation, I started painting again. It became my meditation. The first thing I wanted to paint were bodies. All kinds of bodies. Various bodies together and intertwined. Black and white with pink and golden threads. Faceless bodies. Strong bodies. Reborn.
Ólöf Erla graduated as a graphic designer with a BA degree from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts. She owns and operates her own company, SVART Design Studio in Hafnarfjörður, which specializes in various advertising, photography, and image processing. In recent years, Ólöf Erla has created Digital visual art with photographs in Photoshop, which she calls “Stories Without Words,”. For many years, she has sketched and painted as a leisure in her free time. After being diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2021, the need to express herself with brushes as a form of meditation awakened. The outcome of this exhibition is these works.
Exhibition opening will be on Thursday, November 9th from 18:00-20:00 and everyone is welcome!
