Kaffihúsið Garðurinn (Ecstasy’s Heart-Garden)

Situated on Klapparstígur in the heart of the city centre, Garðurinn is a small cafe that offers a delightfully diverse menu of tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes. This gem of a café, which translates to the Heart Garden, has been a local favorite among locals and tourists for more than a decade. Ingredients are sourced locally when possible and the food is fresh, inventive and divine.

The atmosphere is minimalist and peaceful, and the staff all study meditation with noted teacher Sri Chinmoy. They aim to create a calming space for customers inspired by his philosophy of service.

Guests are treated to a rotating menu of special dishes including soups like vegetable chili, red lentil soup, sweet & sour Texas soup, Greek spinach soup, Mexican soup, and Turkish bean soup.

All the soups are vegan and gluten-free and are packed with nutritious, fresh flavors. Other dishes include sautéed cauliflower with Indian spices, spinach lasagna, ground nut stew, vegetable curry and almond loaf. But, make sure you save room for dessert as there are an array of vegan and raw cakes and sweet treats.
