The Gallery of Ásgrímur Jónsson

Ásgrímur Jónsson is the first Icelander who made art his main job. In 1960, his house and the bulk of his work came into the possession of the national gallery of Iceland.

Ásgrímur was very much inspired by the European romanticism as can be seen in his big, warm-colored landscape paintings. He painted with both oil and watercolors and has his own place in the Icelandic art-world with his watercolor work.
