Grenjaðarstaður in Aðaldalur, one of the most beautiful turf houses in the country

Nine point six

There are a lot of very interesting things that emerge when you read the latest survey by the Icelandic tourist board from 2021 about travellers that visit Iceland. Among other things, 20% of tourists, or 400,000 people, get most of their information about the country and nation from magazines like the Icelandic Times. When tourists are asked about their overall experience of the trip, the Americans and the British, give their Icelandic trips the highest rating, Americans 9.6 out of a possible 10, which must be considered very good. The British give the trip a score of 9.5. The Dutch are the only ones of the top ten nationalities that come here, giving the visit a rating lower than nine. What the tourists thought was the worst part of the visit was not the weather, or the prices, but… the road system, it’s one of the few things that the tourists don’t like and could be improved. Despite the shortcomings of the road system, eight out of ten intend to return to the country. After all, Icelandic Times is always pointing out new places, a new village, a new fjord, or what is worth seeing in culture and arts in the country… Welcome to Iceland. Again.

Here is a small sample of Iceland.
