Gljúfrasteinn – Laxness Museum

Gljúfrasteinn - Laxness Museum

Halldór Laxness is Iceland’s Novel award winning author and Gljúfrasteinn, built in 1945, was his home. Now it’s the museum for everything Halldór Laxness. Everything in the house is as it was back then.

The house itself was a very modern building in its time. Situated on the road to Þingvellir made sure many foreign celebrities stopped by. The house also has its own swimming pool which was very new for its time.
